The latest updates from Twitter provide a lot of options for real-time marketing opportunities for businesses. If you haven’t taken Twitter seriously yet, then this may be the right time to make use of Twitter to bolster your business’s online presence. To help you get started, here are five tips to help you start using
Twitter to build your business presence:
1. Create a powerful keyword-rich Twitter bio:
Once you’ve joined Twitter, it’s important to complete your Twitter bio so users know who you are, and what you or your business is about. If you make use of relevant keywords in your Twitter bio, then your profile will be more likely to rank at the top of the search results if someone is searching for something related to your business.
2. Showcase your visual identity:
Upload an avatar! Potential customers and clients won’t take you seriously if you’re still the default Twitter egg image. Use your logo, a professional head shot, or an image that is representative of your business.
You also have an opportunity to further support your brand by uploading a Twitter header photo. Try adding an image related to your business, an upcoming promotion or event, happy employees, or your products or service(s) in action. Uploading your profile and header images will help showcase a stronger image of your brand, and as a result, more people will show interest and follow you.
3. Connect and build a following:
Be selective when you start following people or brands on Twitter. You know how the saying goes, “you are the company you keep.” Focus on quality and not quantity. Connect with your current and potential customers and follow people related to your business, for example: business partners, vendors, contractors, professional groups, competitors, peers, and influencers in your field or industry.
4. Engage with your Twitter community:
Spend some time on your Twitter account every day. Retweet, favorite, and reply to your followers and people that you want to follow you. Let your target audience know you exist! Create Twitter lists to help you organize and monitor your customers, vendors, employees, and even competitors. Start talking to people to share activities related to your business like your latest offers, bonuses, promotions, and happenings. But, make sure that your business isn’t the only thing you’re talking about. That brings me to the last tip:
5. Start sharing and posting relevant content:
Sharing content that is informative with your followers is one of the best ways to increase your business’s online presence. By sharing helpful and valuable content with your audience, they’ll be more inclined to listen and engage more with your brand. Yes, sharing promotional content is a must for every business, but there must be a balance between promotional content and valuable content. Your audience will appreciate a business that tries to solve their problem more than a business that is only trying to sell to them.
These are just some of the tactics that you can use to start marketing your business via Twitter. Getting started on Twitter may seem daunting at first but, once you get started with these tips, you’ll see that reaching and engaging with your target audience is as easy as a 140 character tweet (tip: 120 characters or less for better engagement.)
